I second the recommendation to read Crisis of Conscience. Until you are no longer captive to the concept that the Borg is "God's Organization" you aren't mentally equipped to doubt anything they say, regardless of the evidence shown to you from the scientists and archaeologists of "Satan's wicked world."

The Control is simply amazing
by outsmartthesystem inat the kind advice of so many of you (and hassan) on this board....i ceased attempting to discuss doctrine/failures with my wife many months ago.
but unfortunately that does not prevent her from grilling me from time to time.
during one of our infamous "discussions" she said she was going to "investigate" this supposed "proof" that is out there regarding 587bc.

I think, sir82, that it is also because they aren't just in it for the money. There is a bureaucratic faction in the leadership, no doubt, but the GB and their cronies are more about power and control which they get through devotional religious rituals like more field service and meeting attendance.

If the GB and their suck ups were threatened with........
by punkofnice in......the 'chair' or execution for crimes against humanity or whatever unless they change doctrine eg 'no blood' and practices like 'shunning' and 'paedo protecting', would there suddenly be loadsa loadsa 'new light'(tm), changing these things as the gb protect their posteriors?.
..or would the members of the gb gladly march to their death without changing a thing relishing the thought that they're being martyred for 'jehovah'(tm)?.
...........something i've wondered about..

Oompa, do you and your attorney have the Watchtower's secret child custody packet? It lays out the Borg attorney gameplan for divorce and custody court cases. You NEED IT in order to know what their strategy is going to be.
As for the JW lawyer. There are JW lawyers all over the place because JWs and the Borg are in court all over the place. They don't work exclusively for JWs - there isn't THAT much JW work - but if they are known in a city or region many of the JWs will go to them instead of a 'worldly' attorney. As for fees, these are attorneys we're talking about here. They charge what they charge.

LeavingWT: Why Never Discuss Doctrine?
by InterestedOne inamong the various helpful pieces of advice i have read here from leavingwt, i have noticed that he often tells people to never discuss doctrine with a jw.
i realize that discussing doctrine with a jw can be very frustrating, but i was wondering if there is a more far-reaching and less-obvious reason for this advice.
like is it related to some peculiar aspect of the jw mind that the average person would not be aware of?.

8.5 years. When it started I expected it to last at least 10. I know people complain that it was too long but I disagree. I think the US did as good a job as can be expected there.
